Charley Charley's Home Life
I love to be at home on Christmas Day with my kids, I like to keep housework to a minimum so we can spend the day unwrapping presents, eating and playing games, we go to see family on or after Boxing Day, to do it all again with family xx

I love to spend Christmas morning at home, and then go to my parents for dinner and more presents. In the morning I sit with a binbag to make sure all the rubbish is away and nothing gets lost! I also prep the veg at home and take it with us to be cooked to my parents. Boxing Day we also spend with my parents but we also have grandparents there too. On this day I sit back and enjoy time with my grandparents and kids whilst my dad cooks up the left overs from the day before. When everyone has left I help clear up. Such a lovely family tradition to have another Xmas day on Boxing Day with grandparents.
Dan's granny is 85 and she likes to be at home for Christmas so we do her a big Xmas shop so she has everything at home, we call her Christmas morning and send our love and wishes. She then spends Boxing Day with us at my parents with my other grandparents.

It all starts with Christmas Eve tradition of preparing veg & watching the snowman. Christmas morning stockings from Santa then the family fun begins at my sisters with a box of prepared food too cook. Everyone helps to clean up afterwards too. Then tea time it’s the men’s turn to prepare a feast to enjoy with Christmas games 🎄
For me Christmas starts early, celebrating all throughout December with different friendship groups and family members, Christmas Eve usually involves fizz fun and festive pjs, followed by Christmas Day at a friends house, a delicious traditional dinner and desert followed by games, music and festive cocktails. Boxing Day I head to the sales during the day and the pub in the evening.

All the prep begins the night before Christmas, anything that needs building is built so we get that quality time with our children the next morning. Christmas morning in my household is spent opening presents and playing with new toys. My parents do the hosting each year, we share the shopping list and this is purchased and delivered the day before. My domain is the Christmas table which I also prepare the day before, allowing me to spend quality time with my family.

I do little bits every day on the run up to the big day to make things easier. Little and often. Get everyone involved. Christmas is too magical to get stressed it’s just a Sunday dinner in reality, why put so much pressure on ourselves. Enjoy it, and if it doesn’t go right or somethings forgotten, ask yourself does it really matter? As long as I’m the one holding the bin bag in the morning for the wrapping paper and the family have taken their gifts to the their rooms then the rest of the cleaning can wait, we all need a rest and enjoy the festive times, mess will still be there tomorow 🎄

I don’t celebrate Christmas as I am Muslim but it’s still a time for community and to help those of us who need it. I do love to host. Christmas days is such a great opportunity as so many people are off of work and I love doing a Christmas dinner. Its also one of the only times of a year you can get a halal turkey!
