Are you struggling to find ways to save money? Are you trying to get things in order, to help navigate life right now?
This year National, Organising Week focused on ‘Getting organised to save you money’. We are living through a difficult time, and current cost-of-living crisis is affecting most households across the country.
During NOW 2022, APDO shared valuable and easy-to-use advice to help as many people as possible save some money when they need it the most. Daily themes included planning, developing organising skills and applying simple tips and tricks that can make a difference. Here are some highlights:
Energy saving hacks
Where you can, use smart appliances or meters
Clean your radiators. Get your system flushed every five to six years it will save a lot of energy in the long run
Take shorter showers and turn off the tap when you are brushing your teeth!
A cost-effective Christmas
Set yourself a budget and plan ahead – where and when to buy
Why not have a gift “swishing” evening or at lunchtime in a children’s play area. Swap previously unwanted gifts or “mistakes” (e.g.an online purchase that never got returned). Someone’s unwanted or unloved item can be another’s treasure.
Look out for gift packs (the items inside may be a little smaller than the regular individual items, but who will know? Split the packs and wrap items separately for a number of friends and family
