Charley's Shine Squad Story

shine squad story

Tell us a bit about yourself....

Hey lovelies! I’m Charley I am 34 years old, I am originally from Dorset but I now live in Kent with my two children. My son is now 11 and starting secondary school in September and I’m totally not ready for it but so excited for him!! My daughter is 7 and loves to read and is obsessed with Jojo Siwa.

I work in the care sector as a night carer in a residential home, I find it so rewarding but it can be very challenging at times.

I set up my page on the 6th of November 2019, I hand wanted to create one for ages before I did!! I did have to take some time away for a while but I was welcomed back to the amazing community!! I have made some amazing friends, have the best followers, learnt so much throughout my insta journey and had the opportunity to work with some of my favourite brands since opening my account. I will be forever grateful

How did you learn how to keep a home?

My mum taught me how to clean but if I’m honest.. I used to hate cleaning and always found it such a chore!! Of course the housework always got done but if I could put it off I would of!! My love for cleaning came when Sophie aka Mrs Hinch started to share her cleaning tips and tricks and I loved how she always had a name for each product and it just made me realise that cleaning can be fun and it doesn’t have to be a chore.. I now have a shelving unit and extra shelves in my basement just for my cleaning products aka my narnia... my friends like to call it the shop lol, they always come round and leave with a cleaning product or two. I love to try new products and learning new tips and tricks, the cleaning community really is amazing and has really helped me so much.

What is your favourite homemaking activity?

If I had to pick just one thing then I would honestly have to say cleaning the bathroom.. there is nothing like a sparkly clean bath when you’ve had a long day and all you can think off is I need a soak!

What homemaking product couldn’t you live without?

I don’t think I could live without flash bathroom and white vinegar.. flash bathroom always keeps my bathroom super clean and smelling amazing and white vinegar because it can be used for so many cleaning jobs around the home

Do you ever feel overwhelmed? How do you cope?

Yes I sometimes feel like I’m not good enough for this or I just overthink things and come up with all sorts!!

When I feel like this I pick a room in the house, grab some cleaning products and off I go, I find cleaning really helps to clear my mind

I have recently got myself a tattoo believe because I wanted something to remind me that no matter how hard something may be at the time then all I need to do is just believe in myself and know that I can do it and at the end of the day I am who I am and I am worthy and I do belong!

I also like to paint, I find it so relaxing and I love the sense of achievement when it’s done!

Why is #shinenotshame important to you?

#shinenotshame is so important to me because just because something is hard for me, someone/others could be going through something even harder and it is so important that everyone has the right to be who they are!!

Everyone who knows me knows I’m such an outgoing person and love to chat, I swear I would be world champion if there was a competition for it lol!! However when it comes to group talking or being in front of the camera I get so nervous and all I want to do at that moment is be swollen up into the floor, I know that this isn’t good, so I am always reminding myself that things will get better and you are enough!!

What is an interesting fact about you?

I am obsessed with singing, I literally sing anywhere and everywhere I can, in the street, in shops, in the bath or even in the car! I am always signing, my daughter always gets me to sing around town when we go shopping although I get so embarrassed when people say wow you can sing or omg was that you singing.. have you thought about signing professionally? I would love to do that but I don’t think my nerves would be able to handle it lol!! But you will be seeing me in the karaoke booth at the Clean & Tidy Home Show!
